Employment Law changes in April 2016 - Part 3 (national minimum wage)

National Minimum Wage haters beware!

For this final installment in our mini-series, the government has increased the penalties that may be levied on employers who do not pay the National Minimum Wage (NMW).
From the 1st April 2016, the penalty for employers has been doubled! Hear, hear we say!
For those that do not comply, the penalty rises from 100% of the calculated arrears to 200%. However, the penalty is halved if they cough up within 14 days. The maximum penalty of £20,000 is unchanged. Let’s hope it makes a difference!
